Guides
Here you can find the Flowerail installation guide, video, and maintenance and use instructions.
Installing Flowerail on a window
Flowerail is easy to install by following the guide if you are comfortable with simple home repair tasks, such as installing skirting boards, replacing a toilet or assembling flat-pack furniture from a store using instructions.
For installation, you need a screwdriver bit set, a screwdriver, a cordless drill and a 4 mm metal drill bit. Clamps are useful. If you do not have these tools at home, this task may be too difficult for you and it may be sensible to order Flowerail installation from a service provider.
The manufacturer of Flowerail does not provide installation services.

1. Check the parts
When opening the product box, make sure the set includes the parts shown in the image.
A — mounting rail screws. 6 screws per rail. A full-length two-module set with two rails must include 12 screws.
B — front guard post screws. 2 screws per module.
C — screws for module connector parts.
S size set: 4 fastening screws
M size set: 5 fastening screws
L size set: 6 fastening screws
D — front guard cable screws. 2 screws.
E — left and right outer front guard posts. There is an internal thread at both ends of each post.
F — inner front guard posts. The thread is only at one end. A one-module Mini set does not include inner front guard posts.
G — module connector parts.
S size set: 4 parts
M size set: 5 parts
L size set: 6 parts
H — front guard / front guard cable. 1 pc.
I — adjustable support feet. 2 feet per module. Depending on the window sill flashing slope measurement D entered when ordering, the set may include support feet of different lengths.
J — left mounting rail. 1 pc.
K — right mounting rail. 1 pc.
Z — installation guide.
NB! Some sets may include a hex adjustment key for the support feet, but this is not a mandatory part.
The set includes one or more modules according to whether you ordered a full-size two-module Flowerail or a one-module Mini version.
2. Attach mounting rails J and K to the window installation profile
Remove the screws from one side of the window sill flashing. Do not remove the screws on the other side yet.
Install the first mounting rail on the side of the window where the screws were removed.
- When looking at the parts, you may notice that at one end of the mounting rail there is a larger gap between the mounting clamp and the end of the rail than at the other end. The end with the larger gap must always face the window reveal.
- Fix the rail as firmly as possible upward against the lower part of the window frame so that the rail does not move. Drill through the rail and through the window sill flashing. For the first hole, choose one of the middle holes in the rail.
- Drill only a 1.5 cm deep hole into the window installation profile behind the flashing. Use a drill depth stop. Set the stop depth to 3 cm. The rail itself is 1.5 cm thick, so this creates a 1.5 cm deep hole in the installation profile.
Once the first hole has been drilled, immediately fasten the first rail mounting screw A.
- This fixes the rail better for drilling the remaining holes.
- Drill the remaining holes and fasten the remaining screws.
Do not overtighten the screws!
- When driving screws with a cordless drill, make sure the drill clutch is not set completely rigid.
- If the window installation profile is made of compressed foam, the screw is especially easy to overtighten.
- It is safer to drive the screw almost all the way in with the drill and tighten the last part by hand to avoid overtightening.
- An overtightened screw will not hold the rail. If this happens, remove the screw and plug the hole before reinserting the screw.
When the rail on one side is installed, remove the flashing screws on the other side and attach the mounting rail on the other side.
3. Assemble the Flowerail construction
Assemble the complete Flowerail construction indoors.
This is more convenient. The construction is light and easy to lift outside the window to attach it to the rails.
Recommended work order:
3.1. Attach front guard posts E and F with screws B
The Mini version uses only the outer posts E.
- Make sure the outer front guard posts E are threaded at both ends.
- The inner front guard posts F are threaded only at one end.
- The holes in the guard posts must face each other.
- Tighten the fastening screws firmly.
3.2. Connect the modules together
The module connector parts G are fastened with screws to only one module. They pass through the holes of the other module without being fastened. Therefore, the modules are not rigidly connected to each other and the distance between them can be adjusted during installation.
- To connect the modules, insert all connector tubes about 5 cm through the holes of the module to which they will not be fastened.
- The threaded ends must face the other module.
- Bring the other module close enough.
- Slide the ends of the connector tubes fully into the matching holes of the other module.
- Fasten the connector tubes to the module with screws C.
- Tighten the screws of the connector tubes between the modules firmly all the way in.
NB! Before installing Flowerail outside the window, slide the construction approximately to the length it will have outside the window. This makes installation easier.
3.3. Screw support feet I into place
- At first, screw the feet in to about a medium depth, approximately halfway in.
- The exact adjustment of the feet is done after the construction has been attached to the rails and already rests on the window sill flashing.
- The feet must extend into the module by at least 1 cm. They must not be unscrewed further, because then the connection between the feet and the modules is no longer secure.
- Indoors, it is convenient to check the depth and fit of the feet.
- If you measured the window sill flashing slope measurement D correctly and entered it when ordering, the feet will extend deep enough.
- If the feet are still too short or too long and the working surface of the modules cannot be adjusted level, it is possible to order new, shorter or longer support feet.
3.4. Install front guard cable H
- Fasten the cable to one end post E with clamping screw D.
- To do this, insert the cable about 1 cm through the opening in front guard post E.
- Screw screw D into the front guard post from above.
- Tighten the screw until it presses the cable firmly in place.
- Check that the cable is firmly attached to the post.
- Thread the other end of the cable through the openings in the middle front guard posts.
- The cable must reach the other end post E with some extra length.
- Do not yet fasten the other end of the cable to the other outer end post. This is done outside after the construction has been attached to the rails.
- Screw the second screw D slightly into the other end post E already indoors. This prevents the small part from falling out of the window during installation.
4. Prepare Flowerail for installation on the window
Before lifting the construction onto the window sill flashing, prepare the mounting rail clamps.
- Screw all mounting rail clamp screws all the way in so that the mounting clamps are fixed* and cannot move up and down.
- Then loosen all mounting clamp screws by half a turn so that the mounting clamps can move freely up and down.
- Only when all mounting rail clamps move freely are the mounting rails ready for attaching the construction.
* Flowerail must not be installed with fixed mounting clamps.
5. Install Flowerail on the window
- Lift the assembled Flowerail onto the window sill flashing.
- NB! During fastening, it is recommended to secure the entire construction with a rope so that it cannot accidentally fall during installation.
- Move the modules on the flashing so that the module clamps align with the mounting rail clamps.
5.1. Connect the first mounting clamp
- Move the Flowerail construction close enough to the mounting rail so that you can connect the first mounting clamp.
- Place the mounting rail screw into the opening of the module mounting clamp.
- Lock the mounting clamp.
- To lock it, slide the rail-side angle part of the clamp together with the module-side mounting clamp, as shown in the drawing.
- Then fully tighten the supporting nut of the angle part.
5.2. Fasten the remaining mounting clamps
- Move on to the next fastening points one by one.
- Make sure each mounting rail screw sits in the opening of the module mounting clamp.
- Slide the angle part of the clamp together with the module-side mounting clamp.
- Tighten the supporting nut.
- Check that all mounting clamps are locked.
6. Adjust the Flowerail working surface to level
If you do not have a spirit level at home, you can use the simple “box lid method”.
- Place a right-angled aid, such as a book or a box lid, with its vertical side firmly against the window frame.
- The horizontal side of the aid shows the correct plane angle.
- Adjust one Flowerail support foot so that the working surface is level.
- Use that as a guide to adjust the other feet down to the flashing.
- Check that all support feet rest on the window sill flashing and that the working surface is stable.
7. Fasten the other end of the front guard cable
If one end of front guard cable H is already attached, check that the cable passes through both middle front guard posts.
- Pass the end of the cable through the opening in the outer front guard support post E.
- Pull the cable tight.
- Press the end of the cable firmly in place with clamping screw D.
- Cut off the excess cable with pliers.
- Leave about 2 cm of extra cable.

Maintenance and use
Flowerail does not require active maintenance. If it is installed correctly and used as intended, there is nothing you need to do — just keep an eye on it. If any looseness appears, tighten it with a screwdriver.
Follow the load limit specified for your model.
Distribute the load on the grate as evenly as possible. If an aluminium grate tube bends, keep in mind that aluminium may remain in that shape. In that case, carefully bend the deformed tube back straighter.
Flowerail is weather-resistant. It can be left outside for the winter.
In winter and during the Christmas season, fir garlands, Christmas decorations and Christmas lights also work well on Flowerail.
If you have temporarily detached Flowerail from the mounting clamps and install it again, follow the installation guide again. Before placing the structure on the window sill flashing, make sure that the mounting clamps on the mounting rails can move freely up and down.
To clean the window sill flashing under Flowerail, lift the grate up. The hinged connection allows the grate to be lifted for cleaning.
Over the years, the aluminium that Flowerail is mainly made of will become duller and take on a light grey tone. This is normal and makes Flowerail even more discreet on the window.
Important!
It is strictly forbidden to climb onto Flowerail. Do not stand, sit, lean, hang or support yourself on it.
If you allow a pet onto Flowerail, make sure your pet stays there safely. The world is full of dangerous temptations.
Be careful with very light containers that wind may move. If possible, do not leave light containers empty on the grate. If needed, use rubber fasteners or other suitable fixings to secure the containers.
Be careful with heavy containers as well. Remember that buckets and pots left outside the window can fill up with rainwater and become very heavy.
Keep the area outside the window aesthetic and clean. Do not keep unsuitable items on Flowerail.
